Independent Legal Advice

Please read the following information about our service and book your appointment below

What is our service for?

It’s so someone who is proposing to stand as the guarantor for a finance agreement is given an explanation from a solicitor of the financial risks and potential consequences to them and their assets should the finance agreement repayments not be made on time by the borrower.  For certain circumstances the courts have imposed an obligation on lenders to make sure a guarantor understands the risks involved before the finance agreement is taken out, e.g. when a finance agreement is to be secured against the guarantor’s house.

So how does it work?

Simply choose an appointment time below which is convenient to you/the guarantor of your finance agreement, and we’ll provide a Zoom meeting invitation to be clicked on when it’s time for the appointment.

What happens during the video meeting?

Our allocated panel solicitor will explain the legal implications of standing as a guarantor for the finance agreement.

It shouldn’t take any more than about 15 minutes – 30 minutes (depending if there’s any questions).

What is the cost?

The fee for this service is £195 plus VAT.

What do I need to do ahead of the Video Meeting?

It is normally the case that the lender will already hold the necessary ID however if not then you will be asked to supply the following for the guarantor:

(a) copies of a current passport or current UK photo card driving licence; and

(b) copies of a bank statement or utility bill or Council tax statement addressed to the guarantor
